We've had our first setback in a while.
We woke at 3a so Heidi could pump.
We went to visit Connor and his oxygen levels were back down in the 80s.
The nurse said they were able to wean him to just 50% oxygen that they were given him, but in the past 1-2 hours his oxygen requirements were going back up.
He is back on 100% oxygen and his oxygen saturation/sats/levels are back down in the 80s. They are getting a chest x-ray to see if there's an answer. I fear the left chest tube may not be working well, but we'll see. Answer should be in the next hour or so.
They did start the TPN last night around 10p.
He had a blood gas around midnight which was around 7.26.
Last one around 2p was around 7.4. (7.4 is good).
His heart-rate is back up in the 180s (I believe it should be 120s-130s).
We're lying down waiting for the results. Two nurses are tending to him.
We're trying to take to heart the many people who have worked in the NICU or had a child go through a similar experience who have commented or told us to have patience with these setbacks. God grant us the faith for healing for Connor...

We are awake and praying.
ReplyDeleteOur nurse said at night all the babies wake up from the quiet, maybe that is why he is having setbacks at night? Allie took two steps forward and one back with weaning from the oxygen too. And her setsbacks came at night too. Makes it hard to get any sleep! But it sounds like you have great nurses to help you through this struggle! Saying extra prayers today.
ReplyDeleteHi Kara,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that while we don't know you, your words of insight and encouragement have been particularly encouraging, considering what you went through with your child.
